Gila Inner Loop Bicycle Tour
September 2007

Where is it?
The Inner Loop Bicycle Tour travels the secluded winding roads of New
Mexico's Trail of the Mountain Spirits, starting from Silver City and
taking legs of varying lengths to suit the skill levels and endurance
of a variety of riders.
Sponsored by the Silver Spokes Bicycle Club of Silver City, this tour
has it all — beautiful vistas and light traffic on well-paved winding
mountain roads through some of the most beautiful country the Land of
Enchantment has to offer, plenty of good food, a free ride for your
baggage, and even a ride for you in the sag wagon if you need it!
This ride is at altitude (6,000-7,500 feet) and crosses the Continental
Divide twice on the first day. Although the minimum distances are not
long, there are a lot of hills, and the ride should be considered
strenuous. The cyclist and the bicycle should be prepared for some
serious climbing. All but the strongest cyclists will want three chain
rings up front.
Support will be provided by well-stocked and well-staffed rest stops.
There will also be a support vehicle, which can transport a cyclist and
bike if necessary. Personal support vehicles are discouraged. Our
driving guests are encouraged to do the route in reverse, to avoid the
necessity of passing cyclists on the narrow, winding roads.
Please note that information
regarding destination hours of operation, seasonal closings and other
information is subject to change. Please contact the destination to
confirm your travel plans.
