Grand Opening Cow Trail Art StudioAugust 11, 12:00 pmA long time collector of original prints, Chick will have a portion of her collection of 19th and early 20th century etchings, lithographs, and woodcuts on display as well as her own paintings and monoprints. She may be working on a painting when you visit and is always happy to talk with you about the art process, art work, a particular artist in her collection, or the history behind the prints. The print exhibit will change every two months so a repeat visit will give you something new to look at.
The official Studio Grand Opening will be August 11th from NOON until 2:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Arenas Valley is 5 miles east of downtown Silver City, NM. Turn north off 180 between Mile marker 117 and 118 onto Arenas Valley Road. Bear right around the big bend and turn north again on Cow Trail ( a dirt road ). Proceed 1.3 miles on Cow Trail to # 119 – go through the green gate. Drive up the hill and the studio is at the top on the right.

19th Copper Country Cruizers Car ShowAugust 20 to August 21The show is open to all vehicles, 1973 and older. Registration, at $35 per car, will begin on Friday, August 20, from 2 pm - 8 pm at the Holiday Inn Express, and continue at Gough Park on Saturday morning. The show will wrap up on Sunday, August 22 with a farewell get together for participants. The car show, hosted by the Copper Country Cruizers, will take place on Saturday, August 21 at Gough Park, from 8 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. (depending on weather). During the show, exhibitors feature meticulously restored autos, both the classic and the obscure, from 1973 and earlier. Awards and trophies are presented in a number of restoration and showmanship categories. The public is invited to come enjoy the car show at no charge. There will be vendors, refreshments, raffles and of course, oldies music, in addition to all the beautifuil vehicles on display. Throughout the show schedule, the Cruziers also sponsor cruises downtown.

Fort Bayard's 144th Birthday CelebrationAugust 21Fort Bayard soldiers had to protect the ranchers as one part of their many duties. Our birthday celebration starts with a free tour of old Fort Bayard - 9:30 AM which includes entrance to the New Deal Theater and Commanding Officer's Home/Museum. Bar-B-Q lunch is for sale by the Copper Creek Ranch. Be entertained with cowboy poetry and music. A second tour will be given at 1:30. Come square dance in the theater at 7 PM, $10 per couple. This non-profit organization gladly accepts donations.
